What is an Aura? And How it Plays a Role in Your Life More Than you May Think
What is an Aura?
Just like the earth has magnetic field, so does every living being and thing on earth does. This is the Aura. The aura is a rainbow-like kaleidoscopic, technicolour dream coat of many layers of energy that pulses around the physical body and attuned to our emotions, health and external circumstances.
Everything in this Universe is made up of energy, every living thing that we see is made up of atoms and every atom has a vibration - including us humans, plants, animals and even stones give off a vibrating frequency of light? Holistically this is called the AURA or in scientific terms THE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD. Each of us have auric fields that interact with one another, which explains why we sometimes get a gut feeling every now and then - such as when we say " I have a bad feeling about this." This is our aura doing its job.
Its purpose is to protect your physical body and keep away negative vibrations, which could potentially cause you harm.
All living things have an aura. The human aura has a subtle energy field which surrounds our physical body and extends outwards all around us front and back. What ever we say, think or feel all effects our aura, our energy field each and everyday. Our personal vibration is forever changing, depending on where we are mentally, emotionally and physically in our health and wellbeing. When our vibration is high - we feel good, well and healthy, happy and joyful. The Aura is a direct reflection of your mental, physical, emotional and spiritual state. It changes and shifts in direct response to you, and to anything that influences your energy.
Many things can affect your aura, such as:
physical illness and disease,
the moods of others
and other peoples energy
poor spiritual hygiene
the universe and the planets
the moons energy
and everyday experiences and overwhelm of the twenty-first century life.
The Aura tends to get dirty or blocked, loss of vitality that weakens the energy field and requires aura healing therapy or aura cleansing. When auras get blocked or contaminated, illnesses either physical or mental can manifest and issues in your life can escalate. The benefits can be subtle (like a general feeling of peace and well-being) or dramatic (like experiencing a spiritual transformation or feelings of ecstasy). Changes may be immediate or can occur over several days. Repeated therapy sessions can maintain and deepen the aura energy balance.
Energy from an aura is usually not static. It is constantly flowing, flashing, vibrating, expanding, and decreasing. If you feel that you are more sensitive, over emotional, stressed, uninspired, pissed off and energetically drained on a daily basis, you may have some non-existent protection of your aura, such as blockages in your aura in need of balance to restore natural health and wellbeing.Aura therapy and aura cleansing is also based on the fact that every illness be it physical, mental, emotional or spiritual has its roots in our energy system and energetic field (Your Aura). Cleansing your aura is releasing the charge of emotional experiences and habitual thought patterns that can affect your physical body when they build up. Which can eventually cloud our vision and deep innate wisdom. The world is a messy place, there's plenty of different energies flying about, even for the most spiritually awakened person, its all too easy for your aura to become drained, muddied and affected by the million outside influences thats all around us. That is why finding ways to cleanse your aura can help take you out of the rut and keep you leaping high.
Our health and fully functioning balance of our Aura and our Chakras are vital for our own health and well-being be it physically, emotionally and mentally. Without our health of our Aura and our Chakra's and their balance we wouldn't be here. So it's vital to check in with your energy centers and create harmony and balance between them.
Illness in the physical body is a manifestation of failure or breakdown in one of the layers of the aura. Even if jut one layer of the aura is damaged, the damage can manifest itself on different levels of our being.

Function of Your Aura:
The aura protects you from the physical, emotional, and psychic energies of your environment by screening harmful energies (it acts as a lightning rod).
The aura connects you to energies in your environment (it acts as an antenna or bridge).
The aura then bridges these energies to the chakras and other energy centres (which further process them, often resulting in nerve, hormonal, vascular, and other activity in the physical body).
The aura sends signals into your environment that communicate information about you and that attract specific types of energy to you.
The aura holds a set of interrelated fields that are the blueprints for your physical body, your emotions, your awareness, your relationships, and your development. The 7 main chakras have their origin in the physical body but they also exist in all the layers of the aura. The speed and vibration level of the energy is increased with each level. Each layer is related to the chakra of the same number.
There are specific locations within our energy system for the sensations, emotions, thoughts, memories and other nonphysical experiences that we report to our doctors and therapists. Understanding how our physical symptoms are related to these locations will help us understand the nature of different illnesses and also the nature of both health and disease.
Energy blockages originate from any one of these eight types of subtle energy such as;
Emotional - such as grief, fear, anger, jealousy, loneliness, sadness, disappointment, despair, shame, humiliation, guilt
Mental - such as the unwillingness to let go, need to dominate people, or the refusal to forgive someone who has hurt you,
Sexual - such as the use of sex to fill a void or forced or coerced sex
Karmic - energy of your past lives that come back to you in your current life
Spiritual - distorted sense of truth or a lack of access to higher intellect and consciousness
Environmental - such as stress at work or at home
Interpersonal - such as your partner, colleague, or teacher taking his or her anger out on you
Ancestral - such as unreleased negative experiences in your parents lives and their parents lives and past generations, which are passed on to you at the time of your conception

Ways to Cleanse your Aura and Boost Positive Energy:
Cleanse your aura by smudging it with healing herbs, such as white sage, sage, palo santo. Smudging is the burning of herbs traditioanlly used in energy healing and shamanic practices. By burning the herbs releases a smoke carrying the particular properties of the herbs that help to cleanse and clear the aura and your Higher Self. We can smudge our aura with the smoke from the herbs and pass the smoke over each part of our body, starting at your feet and working up the legs, torso, around the back, shoulders, chest, arms and hands and then the neck and head.
Feel the smoke sweeping and traveling over the different areas, allowing the herbs and smoke to cleanse and mentally release any negativity from your auric field and energy.
If you havent got anything that you can smudge with, you can always use an aura cleansing spray, which is much more practicle, portable and sustainable than smudging. Its a great way to cleanse your aura and your space around you, removing any negative energies from a room, office, studio, or your home. Have a cleansing bath
- is a useful tool for purifying the aura of any negative or stagnant energy around your auric field. Using natural and ideally organic bath salts such as sea salt, Himalayan salt, Dead Sea Salt, Epson Salts, with a drop or 2 of lavender essential oil to help to calm the body, mind and spirit. Soak in the warm water and dissolved salts for 20 minutes. Once out, watch as the water drains from the bathtub, mentally visualise all the negative energy and auric nasties going down the drain. I personally recommend a cleansing bath with organic salts at least twice a week.
Salt is used in many healing ceremonies as a tool to ward off negative energies and entities.
Salt has the ability to absorb all energy from a wide range of frequencies: both negative and positive energies.
End of the day foot bath: Helping to remove any negative energy that has accumulated throughout the day. Water and salt can pull down any energetic impurities through the soles of your feet.
Add some bath salts, like the cleansing bath ritual, to warm water to a small foot bowl. Then submerge your feet into the dissolved salts and warm water for 15-20mins, while relaxing and letting go of your days stresses and strains.
Remove your feet, dry them well with a clean towel. Pore the used water away down the toilet and flush it away.
Have an energy shower - Use salts to help to absorb and neutralise any negative energy you might be carrying. Make a salt scrub, by adding some sea salts to a bowl, similar to your bath and add a little sweet almond oil or grape-seed oil to make a thick paste. You can add 2 drops of either sandalwood, sage or juniper essential oil into the mix. Then apply in the shower from your feet all the way up the body, avoiding the face, head and eyes.
Then shower it off, while you shower, ask the water to wash away anything negative that you may have accumulated during the day. Making sure that the water runs from the top of your head over the body.
Aura-combing - Brushing your worries away. Imagine that your hands and fingers are a comb. Visulalise your fingers being a few inches longer than they are. Start above your head and comb all the way down your body towards your feet, without touching your physical body. Do this all over your body, including your arms and back if you can for a few minutes.
Its important that you constantly visualise your aura getting cleansed every time you comb through your aura.
Feel the energy around your aura being released and sent into the ground below you. When you have finished rinse your forearms and hands under cold running tap water.
Walk in the rain: Take a walk in gentle rain and close your eyes as you let the raindrops soak you completely. Imagine all the negativity and toxicity getting washed away with the rain. But avoid heavy rain and rain that is accompanied by thunderstorms. This can damage the aura.
Using Crystals to cleanse your aura - By doing crystal healing on yourself or having a crystal healing session with a therapist that provides energy healing with crystals, can help to balance your subtle energy, naturally reconnect to your natural harmony and bring your body, mind and spirit into alignment with your Highest Self and help to cleanse your auric field. By placing chakra crystals to each of the energy centres on the body and around the body, helps the body, mind and spirit to heal, cleanse and balance. To do this you need a quiet room where you won't be disturbed and somewhere were you can lay down and relax, placing some crystals over the body, over each chakra and around the body. Then allowing yourself to rest for 20 -30mins, knowing that the crystals are helping to cleanse and clear your auric field and balance and harmonise your chakras. Then taking your time to get up slowly after the crystal healing. I would recommend doing this once every 2 weeks to help keep your energy healthy and balanced.
Crystals are make up of the same material that we are made of and vibrate at the same frequency as us. Crystals channel positive energy and neutralise negative energy, allowing us to become more of who we are meant to be.
Types of Crystals that you can use for Aura Cleansing:
Celestite - light blue crystal and also known as Celestine.
Amethyst - a beautiful; purple crystal that transmutes negative energies into positive ones
Moonstone - a white with blue colour, cream crystal that releases energy blockages
Agate - comes in many different colours and unique patterns and styles. Helps to ground the spirit with a sense of stability
Black Tourmaline - Black crystal used to deflect negative energies around us including pollution and radiation.
Clear Quartz - clear or white crystal helps to remove negativity, helps to make you feel better and improves your quality of life.

Tell yourself how wonderful you are... and believe it!
Go outside and bathe in sunlight to naturally energise and revitalise your aura
Spend time in nature
Get as much fresh air as you can each day
Listen to sounds that lift your vibration and enhance your whole-brain activity
Dance, as often as you can to some great uplifting music that makes you feel good, alone or with others
Do all the things that bring you joy and happiness, pleasure and passion
Learn something new
Make time to cultivate and nurture your Spiritual, Mental, Emotional and Physical aspects of yourself and your life
Volunteer to help a good cause that you believe in and want to help others
Eat healthily - a healthy diet, eating less - not more
Stay away from unhealthy diets, tobacco, alcohol and drugs
Eat plenty of green vegetables and healthy fruit, ideally if you can organic
Eat plant based, instead of meat based meals
Drink plenty of fresh water
Get enough sleep - ideally 7-8 hours a night
