Summer Solstice June 21st 2022 - Spiritual Rituals to help you connect to this spiritual energy

It's that time of year again - The official start to summer! The summer solstice always marks the beginning of summer, which lasts until the autumnal equinox (September 22 or 23 in the Northern Hemisphere, or March 20 or 21 in the Southern Hemisphere).

Solstices are especially notable, as they mark the longest and shortest days of the year. In essence, they signify how life on Earth changes in connection to the Sun and how our seasons shape our world. When a solstice occurs, the Sun reaches its absolute highest or lowest point relative to our celestial equator.

The Summer Solstice is celebrated throughout all cultures. For the majority of these cultures, the day involves enjoying sumptuous feasts, lighting bonfires, singing and dancing to traditional songs, and reconnecting with nature.and it is associated with the return of the light. The summer solstice represents the next step after the Spring Equinox which is about new beginnings.

Summer solstice energies are stimulated as the sun approaches its maximum power, light and heat (in the northern hemisphere). Our body usually experiences an increase in energy. Receptors in our retinas conduct the light information which stimulates a reset of our circadian rhythms. This invokes a time of action.

The Summer Solstice is the longest day of the year, the night starts to become longer and gradually shortens the days once again. That’s why besides celebration, there’s also a good time for inner work.

Based on the cosmic forecast, the spiritual meaning of this 2022 summer solstice is about finding balance in your life and mustering up the courage to be the boldest version of yourself.

In astrology, the summer solstice occurs at the start of the Cancer season and it is associated with looking inside ourselves to find the nourishment to keep growing and evolving. It is also a time to trust clarity, to enjoy the present and to feel thankful for abundance and beauty that we have all around us.

To celebrate this wonderful time of the year, it's great to set intentions for the months to come for yourself and the world around you. Go dancing, go to a concert, throw a solstice party on the beach to watch the sun set and rise again. Spend time with the flowers.and nature and being outdoors in the sunshine!

With that said, there are simple rituals you can do on the Summer Solstice to celebrate your light within. One powerful ritual that you can do all year long anytime you want to, it’s to connect with the things that you’re grateful for in your life. Another powerful thing you can do is to set intentions for the upcoming season, related to the themes of the solstice: such as - patience, trust and growth. And this can be related to all areas of your life.

You can start by Sitting quietly and taking a moment to breathe and meditate and reflect upon the first half of your year and contemplate your intentions for the rest of the year. Fuel your intentions by lighting a candle and then blowing it out allowing your intention to be set and knowing that this intention can be created, with your faith in yourself and the universal energy of this day and that you have patience for it to develop and grow over time.

This is really important to remember, to have faith, trust and patience that whatever you wish to create and have in your life, will be created and manifested during this time. So be mindful as to what it is you wish to manifest in your life. You might just get it!

  • Get outside! Take advantage of the longest day and go for walks (preferably without your cellphone in tow), go to the beach, to any park or forest and walk in nature.

  • Spend time with flowers. Garden, buy flowers and arrange them all over your home, or explore a botanical garden.

  • Ground yourself with yoga or meditation. There’s strong sun energy brewing on the solstice sabbat, which can feel intense for some. Help ground yourself with meditative or yoga rituals. Go to a class, watch a calming yoga tutorial on youtube, listen to meditation music, and try to do these rituals outside if you can.

  • Practice some crystal magic. If there’s a time to cleanse your crystals in sunlight, it’s today. Let the energy of the sun purify your crystals from built-up negative energy in the longest sunlight of the year and then sleep with the crystals near your bed (or held in your palms) when you go to bed at night. For extra grounding, hold onto your black grounding stones like obsidian, black tourmaline, and shungite.

  • Have a Ritual Bath. Solstice night is a perfect time for a ritual bath. Light candles, fill your bath with bath salts and essential oils, even flower petals, burn cleansing palo santo or sage, and clear your mind.

What ever you do, have fun doing it and enjoy the extra hours of sunlight that you have and look forward to the coming months ahead.
